Upcoming Exhibition

Nyx + Myf —
The Magical Muff

Jul 2 – Jul 10, 2026

About the Artist

The Magical Muff is a playful and provocative exhibition that celebrates the female body in all its complexity, power and joy. Bringing together the work of Myfanwy Gullifer and Nyx, the exhibition uses humour, storytelling and bold visual language to challenge taboo, reclaim bodily autonomy and embrace the wonderfully messy realities of lived experience. Together, the artists invite audiences into a space where laughter, curiosity and empowerment become acts of resistance and celebration.

Join us for the opening of The Magical Muff on Thursday 2 July from 6pm, and don't miss the artist talk with curator Laura Brinin and artists Myfanwy Gullifer and Nyx on Saturday 4 July at 10:30am.

About the Artist

Nyx + Myf

Myfanwy Gulifer
Trained in the dramatic arts,  Myfanwy Gulifer began making sculpture after working in the theatre. Myfanwy has been exhibiting for close to twenty years, both within Australia and internationally.

Self-taught, she works with clay, textiles, and paper to make ceramic sculptures and large scale installations.
Myfanwy’s work explores memory and the imagination, the sensual and sexual life of the body, domesticity, motherhood, exuberance and disappointment, anger and love.

Myfanwy Gullifer graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne in 1989

Her work has been exhibited at the Melbourne Art Fair, the Korean International Art Fair and various regional gallery shows such as Interconnected at New England Regional Art Museum, 2022; Paint my place at Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery, 2016; and In [two] Art at Maitland Regional Gallery, 2012, which toured across New South Wales.

In 2019, Myfanwy was a finalist in Still: National Still Life Award at Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery, and in 2016, the same gallery awarded her the Artist in Residence at Moonee Beach.

Her work can be found in various public and private collections from across Australia, such as the New England Regional Art Gallery, Tamworth Regional Gallery, the Laverty Collection and the Open-Air Gallery, Walcha, where she lives and works. Notably, in 2010, Newcastle Art Gallery acquired two of her sculptures on behalf of the Les Renfrew Bequest, which were subsequently exhibited in Clash: Contemporary Sculptural Ceramics at Newcastle Art Gallery.

King Street Gallery on William, Sydney has represented Myfanwy since 2012.

Nyx
Nyx’s practice is a bold and unapologetic exploration of the female body as a site of power, pleasure, resistance and self-determination. Working at the intersection of art and activism, she employs the language, symbolism and politics of the vulva to challenge entrenched social taboos, reclaim bodily autonomy and advocate for gender equity. Through text-based works and double entendre, Nyx draws on the political and cultural histories that have shaped perceptions of women’s bodies. Her work seeks to dismantle shame, challenge silence and reclaim language through acts of creative defiance. Humorous, provocative and deeply personal, Nyx’s works playfully confronts the social and political forces that continue to regulate, censor and control women’s lived experiences.
